The guide, together with the students, discovers the life behind the scenes of a 17th-century patrician house. By observing closely, investigating, philosophizing, and discussing, the students form an image of society, art, and daily life in 17th-century Antwerp.

With this target group of students, we mainly want to explore a world that is comprehensible, because they themselves live in a society where themes such as social engagement, economy, and cultural context are foundational. It was no different in the 17th century, but life was experienced in a different way. From their living environment, they can discover parallels and differences, search for advantages and disadvantages, and build a critical dialogue about the solutions of the past and today. Art offers them plenty of material, from secular iconography, from religious images, but also portraits and nature are starting points that they discover in the museum.
